Makes a huge difference on home prices 2) She doesn't mention home prices or type of home she was looking for, only "interest rate of 6%". Maybe she's unrealistically looking at homes she THINKS she can afford or would like to own and doesn't realize she might be able to afford a McMansion yet. She needs to look back to the early 90s when the rates were in the 9% range and the 80s when they were 15% or more. People buy the home they can afford then if things go well it appreciates and you roll that equity into your next home. Rinse and repeat
