I am honestly frustrated with the state of dual carriageways in Uganda. We keep hearing announcements, promises, groundbreakings, and colorful launch ceremonies yet what we see on the ground is a completely different story. Roads that were supposed to ease congestion and improve safety are either unfinished, poorly maintained, or slowed down by never-ending construction delays. And even when a dual carriageway is finally completed, it doesn’t take long before potholes, fading markings, and missing signage start showing up. It’s exhausting to watch the same cycle repeat over and over. And don’t get me started on solar street lighting in Uganda. The idea is great clean energy, better visibility, safer streets but the implementation? A mess. We have solar lights that work for a few months and then go dark, poles that are installed in odd places, lights that stay off at night and on during the day, and entire stretches of roads left in darkness after systems fail and are never repaired. It feels like we’re investing in projects that look good on paper but lack long-term planning, maintenance, and accountability. Honestly, it’s frustrating to live in a country with so much potential, yet we keep seeing public infrastructure delivered halfway, poorly maintained, or abandoned after the ribbon-cutting. Uganda deserves better than this.@BalaamBarugahar
