@tszzl It’s not that people prefer being disempowered by machines. It’s that a machine doesn’t trigger the ancient threat-circuits of tribal competition. A human taking your job feels like: “they beat me.” A machine taking your job feels like: “the world changed.” One hits identity. The other hits circumstance. But what gets lost in these hot takes is the deeper truth: people aren’t afraid of AI or immigrants or class shifts ... they’re afraid of losing agency. If we want to understand what’s actually happening, we need less cynicism and more honesty about insecurity, not superiority.
