If you’re struggling to keep track of the number of planes in question, this is for you. There are 4 planes in total. Think of them as the Cargo Planes (2) and the Airmed Planes (2). The Cargo Planes According Felix, cargo plane URCNN (CVK7037) arrived in Ghana on 12th March from Luanda, Angola. (Note that it went from Accra to Luanda first, for context). It arrived in Ghana for EU regulatory RA3 scanning which Felix says isn’t available in Luanda. (Quick internet search shows there are cargo terminals in Luanda actually offering this service). While here, it developed a fault. So Replacement Aircraft (UR - CEZ) was brought in to evacuate the cargo. This arrived in Ghana on 15th March and departed on 16th March heading for Gran Canaria. This presumably suggests the cargo’s destination was Gran Canaria. After the initial plane was fixed, it departed Accra, Ghana on 25th March to Gran Canaria (Note the cargo had already been evacuated by URCEZ so why still head to Gran Canaria?). (Also note it departed on the same date of departure as the “unrelated” Airmed N823AM) The Airmed Planes The first Airmed plane (N823AM) - Landed in Accra on 20th March from Gran Canaria, for refueling and crew rest (having passed through Luanda). Developed landing gear & tire faults in Ghana. Replacement Airmed (N864) - 22nd March (with replacement tyres and flight engineers from Luanda. Note: flightaware shows Arrival as 24th March but FOK says 22nd March, with departure that same day 24th March) Interestingly, after dropping off the tyres and engineers it went to Grand Canaria The initial N823AM was later fixed and departed Ghana on 25th March, also heading to Grand Canaria So two sets of two planes making 4 in total are the subject of the discussion. Please note this is just an explainer for information purposes.
