@ZohranKMamdani Socialism has failed countless times because it doesn’t align with human nature. Capitalism works because it has figured out a way to harness the reality that all humans are self motivated, and give them an environment where they can simultaneously gain resources for themselves while building infrastructure, goods and services for society at large. The incentives are organized to produce results for all humans, through the actions of self motivated individuals trying to better themselves. The idea that free people will collectively decide that they are willing to work hard to produce things for others, without getting anything in return for their extra labor, is a fantasy that everyone knows is bullshit when they stop and think about it. Nobody wants to be forced to labor for limited returns. Please give me an example where anyone is dying to do this at scale. Even Mamdani’s strongest advocates don’t want to do this shit deep down, and they know it if they’re honest with themselves. Half of them spend their days talking about how they should be paid more for whatever job they do. This very mechanism of thinking is counter to the mechanism of socialism. Wanting more compensation for your time is the mindset of capitalists. Socialism asks individuals to labor for others, have limited say in what they do, and state controlled return on their labor. No matter how hard you work, your outcomes are controlled and limited. When this is reality, your incentive is to do less because your outcomes are unchanged regardless. This is why all federal government orgs look like they’re stuck in the 70s vs all of the modern free market companies we all buy stuff from. It’s because the federal government has guaranteed revenue from taxpayers. No matter what you do, your paycheck shows up. You aren’t competing with anyone. Nobody is around the corner with a better product to put you out of business or eliminate your job unless you push harder to work or innovate. The only way to get free people to give away their labor to other people for nothing in return is to consolidate state power and point guns at them. Bottom line. You can’t have a country of free people and also have socialism. Socialism requires state power consolidation and total cooperation of the people through threat of violence by their rulers. It is a future incompatible with the human nature of free people and will do nothing but expand poverty in the USA. Our government doesn’t need more capital to be better, that’s a bullshit lie people like Mamdani try to convince people is true. Our government needs better incentive structures to output more with less. There is absolutely zero reason why the government can’t provide better education and more effective social programs with the current amount of revenue they take in. It fails because it has no incentive to be efficient. Socialist policies do nothing to change this, they just aim to take more money from the machine that actually produces value, and feed it into the machine that shovels money into the furnace and produces nothing. The focus should be on fixing government, and incentivizing free markets to invest and grow. This is what actually outputs prosperity. Broken government is our biggest problem, not billionaires. The opposite is a lie that people like Mamdani and Bernie manipulate people into believing so they can gain power and siphon more money out of the free market. Where does it go? Partially into their pockets, partially through the meat grinder that is our US gov.
