You really want some metric of how/when technical debt becomes a drag, both on fixing bugs and on adding features. One of the things I was most struck by in the DDD literature is the observation that consistent application of the principles can ACCELERATE later development, as you tend to find new features “fall out” as new combinations of existing domain entities and operations (and I would say this is most obvious if you study <https://t.co/90H0VNsFOo>, where the modeling is explicitly algebraic).
