@EWErickson So the answer to the affordability crisis is getting rid of airbags and rear view camers? How much would that save? I think Conservatism Inc needs better than this.

There are people who defend the constant need to click the "accept" cookies button on websites that have degraded web usage at the behest of the EU nanny state. In the same way, there are those who insist we need backseat reminders in cars, rear view cameras, a billion airbags, auto braking, tire pressure sensors, and a host of other nanny-state features for safe driving. All the people should be ignored. They have, often by intention, driven up prices in the name of safety, responsibility, etc. Ignore their moral preening and make cheap things again.
